For many of you who have been following my blogs for some time now, every year, I try to share with you how I welcome the New Year wherein many cases, I wrap up by telling stories of how my previous year went. Tackling the lessons that I learned and how I plan to improve for the coming year. Like for instance when I welcomed 2017, I wrote a blog, entitled, Sunrise!
Welcoming 2018 was sort of different for me. When everyone was partying while waiting for the countdown to begin, this year I stayed at home serenely, played the Christmas Carols of Frank Sinatra as I reminisce the old photos of 2017, contemplating. I stayed in touch with my family and took some time to slow down. It was wonderful. I welcome this year with mixed emotions – happiness, fear, anger, hopeful, forgiving you name it.
So this time, let me start the year by sharing with you a quotation from one of my favorite authors, Felice Buscaglia from his book, Living, Loving and Learning, which can evidently describe the thoughts, which I could not put into words. He said,
“I exist, I am, I am here, I am becoming, I make my own life and no one else makes it for me. I must face my own shortcomings, mistakes, transgressions. No one can suffer my non-being as I do, but tomorrow is another day, and I must decide to leave my bed and live again. And if I fail, I don’t have the comfort of blaming you or life or God.”
Happy New Year Everyone!
